He was always the one who felt the game differently.
Too intense. Too distracted. Too unpredictable.
That’s what they said.

But no one saw how he could read a play before it unfolded.
How time seemed to slow down in the moments that mattered most.
How his mind, constantly moving, was not a weakness—but a different kind of intelligence.

For years, he tried to fit into a system that was never designed for him.
To think the same. To react the same. To perform the same.
And in doing so, part of his talent disappeared.

Because some abilities don’t look like discipline.
They look like restlessness. Like sensitivity. Like difference.
Until someone understands.
Until someone sees that behind the noise, there is anticipation.

Behind the intensity, there is deep focus.
Behind the difference, there is creativity, resilience, and instinct.

Because when neurodiversity is recognised, something extraordinary happens.

The athlete who couldn’t “switch off” becomes the one who can hyperfocus when it matters most.
The one who questioned everything becomes the one who sees solutions no one else can see.
The one who felt too much becomes the one who competes with unmatched passion and drive.

What once looked like a limitation… becomes a superpower.
Not because it changes.
But because it is finally understood.

Neurodiversity in sport is not something to fix.
It is something to unlock.

Because when we stop asking athletes to adapt to the system,
and start adapting the system to the athlete, confidence returns.
Expression follows.
Performance rises.

And what was once hidden… becomes impossible to ignore.
